Shoutout the second to my mom, who always gets this funny wistful look when she talks about Bill Gates. While clearly, the man is no George Clooney (or Carlos Beltran!), my mom has developed a serious intellectual crush on him. Which got me thinking: smart is sexy, so who is your "Brain Candy"?

- Jon Stewart. It's more than an intellectual crush, but that's definitely the main component.
- Sean Wilentz. Mostly after reading Kingdom of Matthias. Followed up by Chants Democratic! I don't know why, but I always want to put an exclamation point after that title.
- Jasper Fforde. Oozes cleverness.
- Honorable Mention: Keith Olbermann.

Brain Candy, hmm...
I have a not so secret love for Tavis Smiley, though as a labor historian I shouldn't cuz some of his stuff is sponsored by wal-mart.
Robin Kelley always looks mysterious and brilliant--sort of a brain/eye candy mix. I'm intrigued by his move into anthropology (which is probably what I should've done with this topic). Hope for me yet.
and a real life guy who routinely pisses me off but who really is brilliant--his most seductive characteristic to me? his words. does that make me a complete nerd?
Ooh, yeah, Elle. Good call on Robin Kelley. He even makes acknowledgements fun!
Honestly, I don't know what Sean Wilentz looks like, and I wouldn't be able to pick him out of a lineup. But the man can write!
Plus, he's married to Christine Stansell, who rocks my world also.

I'm still mulling this over since authors are an obvious choice.
Neil Gaiman is at the top of my list. So not attractive, and yet...
Tim Burton also comes to mind.
