Movie Loglines quiz
As stolen from Neel. The basics: loglines are 1-2 sentence descriptions of a movie, like you'd see in a TV listings grid. But what if they presented a vague, warped, or odd description of the movie in question?
See if you can guess the following films:
1. A woman forsakes her religious order to join forces with a man on the run from the government.
Solved by K-lyn.
2. A king fears his daughter's romance with a man from another race will bring trouble to their kingdom. The girl's efforts to forward her romance bring her into contact with a rival to the throne.
Solved by Andy.
3. A damaged father desires to reunite with his son and train him in the family business. But the son has other ideas.
Solved by Andy.
4. A man seeks to save his community and redeem himself through a daring motorcycle stunt.
Solved by Neel.
5. A wartime profiteer finds a cheap source of labor among an exploited population.
Solved by Neel.

2. Shrek
Dermboy! What, my movie quiz isn't good enough for you?
Good start, Quinn. I know #4 and think I know #5, but I keep wondering if the "wartime profiteer" and "exploited population" are, like, army ants or something.
I'll post my guesses later.
P.S. And while I don't pay much attention to the word verification anymore, yesterday I came across ratpklf. Definition: being Judd Nelson!
1. Witness or Sound of Music. (Not ususally movies that go together I might add)
2. Shrek? I was going to say Lord of the Rings. Oops.
K, you've got #1. I was thinking "Sound of Music," but Witness works too. I like how sinister SoM sounds by that logline.
Dermboy, you're on the right track...
Ah, I thought #1 was Witness as well, using a loose definition of "government." I have a future logline to The Sound of Music that sounds dirty as hell. But yours is very action-packed.
#2 is probably Shrek 2, now that I think about it.
#4 is very likely The Simpsons Movie.
#5 sounds like Schindler's List, but I keep thinking it's something completely different.
#3 has me at a loss. It sounds so familiar, though.
Neel, you aced 4 and 5. I especially like this idea for stuff like "The Simpsons," since the plot is almost immaterial. And the logline would probably be "Homer, Marge, and the rest are at it again."
Shrek works pretty well for #2, but I have something else in mind...
#3: Return of the Jedi?
Correct, Andy!
Is #2 The Little Mermaid? (Wild guess.)
Correct again!
