I'm no fan of Dick Vitale the commentator. Frankly, I'm not sure how great an ambassador to college basketball you can be if all you ever talk about are Duke, UNC, Kansas, and Kentucky.
But Dick Vitale, cancer fundraiser and overall decent guy, has my support.
I hope he heals, comes back to call a few games whenever he wants, and eventually retires in style, on his own terms.
And then I never, ever want to hear any Vitale wannabes replace him on the airwaves.
Down deep, I have a very soft spot for Dickie. As much as I complain, the season won't be the same without him. Hope he's back for ACC championship week.
