hahahahahahahahaha!
"my good fleece"
snicker ;).
I love Portland :).
I'll show you my Columbia Sportswear if you show me yours...
;)
I always knew he was an Oregonian at heart. But is he wearing wool socks with his Tevas yet?
Not yet. But yesterday I was driving through southeast on my way back from Next Adventure (the closeout/second hand outdoor store on Gleason), having just bought some new skis. I was listening to NPR's Prarie Home Companion, and wearing the good fleece. Really, the only thing that could have made the experience more Oregonian would have been to take the MAX there.
...take the Max there, while drinking your latte from a quirky little mom & pop coffee place, reading your most recent purchase from Powell's.
Dude...did Spouse just explain to ME what Next Adventure was?
I'm going to assume he was explaining to your non-native readers. So I must add that they prefer to market it as Portland's "alternative" sporting goods store. Although most of us just call it Deek and Bryan's.
Spouse won't have gone entirely native until his "good fleece" is the kind he weaves himself, and DQ has a dress made out of wheat.
But yeah, the conversion so far sounds scary.
Not to you K-lyn. Although, I have to say that several of my friends had never been there... and they have been in Portland for many years...
But this blog is read by a worldwide audience (go q!). Did you know that if you google "quinn the brain", this is the FIRST link. That's too cool!
ummm ... and yet, not quite native yet: it's "Glisan" (although correct pronunciation gets you two points of three ;)! ) ... is it on Glisan? I thought it was on Grand (I don't do sports myself, but I eat at Nicholas sometimes)
Neel: fleece, in the city, means Polartec-type only, not any of that organic-type wool stuff--because remember, part of our charm is our inconsistency ;).
(Well, I guess it's not as inconsistent for the vegans ... but then the vegans have to weigh the global environmental consequences of their reliance on artifical fibers, so whatever ;). )
And dresses need to be made out of renewable bamboo, of course. Wheat is just _so_ 3000 years ago ;)!
(Hey, speaking of which, Quinn, have you picked up--as in held--a skein of bamboo yarn yet? That stuff is amazing! I guess I shouldn't be too surprised, since flax is a grass, but still!!)
