The Wild Boy on Communication
Scene: a few weeks ago. The park with the Wild Boy, Quinn, another boy of approximately the same age, and his mom. The boys are playing.
Quinn: "[WB], are you making a friend? Say hi."
Other mom: "Oh, does your son talk?"
Quinn: "No."
Other mom: "Neither does mine. He just makes animal noises."
Other boy: "Woof!"
The Wild boy has entered the animal noise phase. Barely says Mama, but clearly can do "Moo," "Baa," and "Rar!"

How darling. The Wild Boy is a human See 'n Say.
You do of course realize that the animal noise phase is better than the mindless rebellion, yell-at-Mom phase.
It is, indeed, far better than the point-and-scream phase he just overcame.
