I wish...
When making a wish the other day, DQ whispers, "I wish, I wish, with all my heart, that Mommy won't be allergic to cats anymore."
Heartbreaking. K, I think I need to book some Claudio time in the near future.

Awwwww. I'm all choked up! Of course I might be PMSing as well but still!
Ok, I officially invite DQ over for to play with her fairy god-cat...we'll talk schedule soon.
And on the practical side... I know of a doctor in PDX who has cured a few people of their cat allergies...
(Don't know if he still practices though)
Witch doctor?
You can give medicine to the cat that works in 80% of the cases. The saliva of the cat interacts with the dander and that is what you are allergic to. The medicine changes the pH of the saliva and it no longer activates the dander. As an added bonus it makes other guests able to visit.
Basically it is a very low dose of the sedatives you give cats when you fly...your cat might not be as frisky as usual, but at least you can stand them:)
Thanks for the suggestions, but even if I weren't allergic, we wouldn't be getting a cat. I think that would push #1 Dog over the edge from anti-social into full-fledged craziness.
DQ will have to make due with occasional visits. We also visit the adoptable cats at PetsMart on a regular basis.
NO CATS!
